Bio
I was first introduced to Shotokan karate by my parents when I was small. I was never allowed to grade so I soon lost interest.
In junior school I went along with a friend to a judo class. The first lesson I had my nose broken from a hard throw, that was me hooked on the sport.
I used my pocket money to pay for the lessons and I “won” a beautiful competition gi which I wore thin. I managed to reach junior black belt and was hoping to continue on into the Army but life never goes the way you plan.
After 14 years of service and 2 children I decided it was time for me and started in 2022 as a white belt at Nikishan Martial Arts. 2 and a half years later I’ve reached 3rd Kyu and still can’t quite believe it.
I hope to eventually earn my black belt as it was something my parents never achieved.
I restarted my Martial Arts journey at 37, the hardest bit was walking back into the dojo. If I can do it anyone can, just have a go!
