A considered partnership

Built for organisations that value depth.

Nishikan is not a collection of techniques or a branding package. It is a coherent karate system designed to support clear progression, confident instructors and long-term technical integrity.

Connected curriculum

Technical families, kata, application, pressure and progression connected through one structured system.

Instructor development

Clear teaching principles, continuing development and shared standards for your instructor team.

Assessment with integrity

Consistent grading criteria and calibration that support transparent progression.

What licensing can include

A system your instructors can interrogate and teach.

  • Curriculum and grading framework
  • Technical families and kata roadmaps
  • Instructor and examiner development pathways
  • Student resources, templates and assessment materials
  • Continuing professional development and calibration
  • Safeguarding-aware, trauma-aware and SEN-adaptive practice

Protecting the system

Licensed selectively. Taught consistently.

We work with organisations that share Nishikan's commitment to technical integrity, appropriate challenge, safeguarding and continuing instructor development. Licensing investment is discussed following an introductory conversation and suitability review.

Questions before you apply

What people ask us about licensing.

How much does licensing cost?

There isn't a fixed published price. Licensing investment is discussed individually following an introductory conversation and suitability review, based on your organisation's size and goals.

Does applying guarantee we'll be approved?

No. We license selectively, and an application begins a conversation rather than guaranteeing a licence. We're looking for organisations that share our commitment to technical integrity, appropriate challenge, safeguarding and continuing instructor development.

What's actually included in a licence?

The curriculum and grading framework, technical families and kata roadmaps, instructor and examiner development pathways, student resources and assessment materials, continuing professional development and calibration, and safeguarding-aware, trauma-aware and SEN-adaptive practice.

Do we need to already be running a martial arts club?

No. Our application form includes "not yet operating" as a valid answer, so organisations at the very start of setting up are welcome to apply.

Is there a minimum contract length?

No. There's no fixed minimum term — licensing arrangements are agreed individually.

Do you offer territory exclusivity?

Yes. We can offer geographic exclusivity to licensees. This is discussed as part of the conversation that follows your application.

Do we have to drop our existing style or brand to license Nishikan?

No. Nishikan's curriculum can run alongside an existing style or brand rather than replacing it — many organisations use it to add structure and depth to what they already teach.

What happens after we submit an application?

Submitting an application starts a conversation. We'll follow up to talk through your organisation, run a suitability review, and if it's a good fit, discuss licensing investment and next steps from there.
